Our usability test battery measures physiological parameters derived from the human autonomous nervous system to provide information on the users’ level of comfort, strain, stress, relaxation, anxiety, etc. - by and large without the possibility on the user side to influence these parameters voluntarily. By adding neurophysiologic parameters to such a set of measurements (for example EEG), even concepts such as mental work load, cognition, etc. can be adressed. To treat the fear of flying, heights, tight spaces, etc. VR exposure therapy is a safe and successful procedure. Its popularity is justified by its lower costs than in vivo exposure, its ability to have total control of the environment, the repeatability of any phobic stimuli and its safety. In controlled stages patients will be exposed to virtual environments using stereoscopic displays as HMDs or projection based systems, where the virtual environment elicits progressively higher levels of anxiety. Each stage can be repeated until the patients anxiety has lessened and they feel ready to move to a higher level.
